How soon ahead for I need to schedule my wedding flowers?

As soon as possible! The important thing is to lock in your wedding date. If you have a summer wedding, please call us in the fall or winter to get your wedding date on our calendar. But you won't need to schedule your wedding consultation until two months before the wedding. Click here to go to our wedding section .

What can I get for $30? $50? $70?

If you have a set budget for your arrangement, please take a look at our photo albums. While we cannot duplicate the same exact flowers, we can show you a good idea of what you can expect for that price range based on the size, shape, artistry, and number of stems in each arrangement. Click on the links to see the albums for: Holidays, Funeral/Sympathy , and Special Occasions.

How do I place an order?

  1. Pick a category from our index. After selecting the perfect arrangement, click "Add to Cart." Your gift bouquet will be stored in your personal shopping cart, allowing you to browse for more bouquets before sending your flowers.

  2. Once you are done shopping, simply click "Continue to Checkout." You will be asked to enter your e-mail address at the login screen.

  3. After you log in, we will ask you for the recipient's delivery information. Using this, we will make sure an experienced florist in the recipient's neighborhood arranges your bouquet.

  4. We will securely request your credit card information.

  5. We will ask you to review your order. If you are pleased with the bouquet you've selected, click the "Submit Order" button. Your order will be received and a neighborhood florist will begin work on your arrangement.

  6. We will send a confirmation message to the e-mail address you were asked to give while logging in. Please save this e-mail for future reference.

What happens if the flowers I ordered are unavailable?

Floral substitutions, while rare, are sometimes necessary due to temporary, regional availability issues. Your experienced florist will always maintain the style, theme, and color scheme of your arrangement using fresh flowers of equal value, should a substitution be required. If we cannot fulfill your exact request, we will contact you to discuss your options and work with you until you are 100% satisfied.

When must I order my flowers to receive same day delivery?

For same day delivery, orders must be received before 1:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday and before 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (All times Central Standard). While we always strives for same day service, orders received after these cut off times may be delivered on the following day only after we have made every effort to provide same day service for you. Please read our Delivery Page for additional information.

Where do you deliver to?

We deliver to most towns in Wright County. Call us at 320-963-8860 for details or check out our Delivery page.

What happens if the recipient isn't there to accept the order?

Because a neighborhood florist personally delivers all orders, it's never a problem that the recipient may have stepped away during the attempted delivery. If you have any specific instructions for the delivery of your gift bouquet, be sure to enter them into the "Special Delivery Instructions" field during check out. Otherwise, the delivering florist may choose to:

-- Call the recipient to schedule an appropriate delivery time of your gift.

-- Leave a note on the recipient's door asking them to contact the florist to schedule a delivery time.

-- Leave the arrangement in a covered, secure area of the home (porch, garage, or other entrance).

-- Leave the gift bouquet with a neighbor, and place a message on the recipient's door referring them to the neighbor who is holding their gift.

Can I send flowers to a Hospital? Or a Funeral Home or Church?

We are very experienced at making deliveries to funeral homes, churches, and hospitals. Please make sure to include the name of the deceased/patient and the name of the funeral home/church/hospital and we will take care of the rest. If you know the service or viewing times you can add this information to the "Special Delivery Instructions" field during check out but this information is not necessary to make your delivery. We always contact the funeral home or church and verify with them exactly when and where to deliver the flowers.

How do I care for my flowers?

Certain varieties of cut flowers last longer than others. Carnations, for example, can remain vibrant for long periods. Roses have a shorter vase life, but are prized for their special and delicate beauty. When buying flowers, be sure to ask your florist how long you should expect your arrangement to last. Whatever variety you choose, a little TLC will go a long way to keep your blooms looking fresh longer. Here are a few handy tips that can help add days to their beauty:

If you have received the flowers as a wrapped bouquet or in a box, you must recut each stem. Fill a clean vase with and water and floral food. Use a sharp knife or scissors and cut approximately 1/2 inch off each stem at a very steep angle. Do this in water, either in a full sink basin or under running water. Immediately place the flowers into the vase.

Keep them in a cool spot (65 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit; 18 to 22 degrees Celsius), away from direct sunlight, heating or cooling vents, direct drafts from a ceiling fan, and the tops of televisions or radiators.

Keep the vase filled with water containing floral food provided by your florist. Be sure to follow the directions on the package. Remove leaves that will be below the waterline. Leaves in water will promote bacterial growth that can harm the flowers. Recut the stems after 6 days (see direction above).

What if my roses have wilted?

It is not properly taking up water. Recut the stems (see directions above) and submerge the entire rose in a tub or sink where it will lay flat for 2 hours in warm water. Make sure the cut end is completely under water.

How do I care for my Plant Basket?

Your plants are in plastic pots with deep plastic liners. To avoid water damage on furniture, water the basket at the sink. Never let a plant remain in standing water, or become too dry. Blooming plants need bright, indirect sunlight; green plants can have less. Use a balanced fertilizer once a month or dilute and use a weak solution at every watering. Air circulation is important. But a cold draft or hot air from a heat source is stressful to all plants.

What is floral food and why use it?

Floral food is a combination of additives that help to nourish the flowers and discourage bacteria from growing in the water. It is one of the best-and easiest-ways to extend the life of your flowers. It is very important to follow the directions on the package correctly. Improperly mixed floral food can do more harm than good.

Are you a real local florist?

Some unscrupulous telemarketing and internet website firms are posing as local florists - Watch out! We are a real, individually owned brick-and-mortar flower shop! We are not a Service Bureau like FTD or 800 Flowers - some of these companies are posing as local florists, charging you higher fees and taking business away from legitimate florists in your town. Don't be deceived by these out-of-town telemarketing operations, who often charge a high processing fees plus a whopping 20% commission. You don't realize you have been scammed until you get higher than expected charges from an out-of-town company on your credit card statement. We want to make sure you don't get left high and dry - so here are some handy tips when finding a real local florist:

-- Ask neighbors, family, friends, and co-workers for recommendations.

-- Deal only with shops that list a street address with their phone number.

-- Ask the florist how late they are open, and for directions to the shop. If they cannot provide this information, consider this a red flag and avoid doing business with the florist.

Why are your roses the best in the county?

Here's a little surprising bit of education: Most florists in Minnesota get their roses in 24" stems or shorter. We call these "grocery store roses". You know what we're talking about - those sad, wilted, stumpy flowers that die in a day. Why do these die so soon? The nutrients are stored in the leaves and stem, so the shorter the stem is, the shorter the rose's life. A lot of florists in the area take a risk by selling these sub-par flowers.

Having been the business for over 15 years, we've learned that taking short cuts like that hurt our reputation and only provide disappointment to the customer. Through an exclusive arrangement, we are the only florist in Wright County to sell certain breeds from Ecuador, which are shipped directly to Minnesota, with stems at least 36" in length and in the freshest possible conditions to make sure that YOUR floral arrangements are of the highest quality! We pride ourselves on the fact that our roses will last 5 - 7 days LONGER than anyone else's roses! When you place an order with Maple Lake Floral, you place your trust in us - we will do everything we can to deserve your good opinion.
